The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild patch 1.1.1 is great for the Switch version, not so much for Wii U

Patch 1.1.1 for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a must have for Switch owners.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild received a new update earlier, version 1.1.1, which was reported to improve frame-rates on the Switch version.

Some already conducted a few tests on the Nintendo Switch to generally favourable results, but no one bothered to check the Wii U version, until now. In its recent analysis, Digital Foundry ran through the areas notorious for having frame-rate drops on both consoles, including the Switch's handheld mode.

Kakariko Village, and Korok Forest, two areas where the game dropped frames constantly before the patch on the Switch, now thankfully run a lot closer to 30fps. Drops in 20s that happened in some cases were also eliminated.

This was also done without lowering the resolution further, which is something that should please those sensitive about image quality.

As for the Wii U, the version that runs at the lowest resolution and has the worse performance across almost all cases, has sadly not seen any upgrades. Things varies from being slightly improved, to being almost identical, according to the site.

Hopefully a future patch will improve things even further.
