The Last of Us Part 2 comes seven years after the original game, and is a sequel that our review describes as a generation defining masterpiece. We're not the only ones gushing over it like a bleeding head wound, as reviews are praising Naughty Dog's swansong on the PS4.

Four years after the first game, Joel and Ellie are eking away an existence in the walled town of Jackson. As you'd expect in a brutal wasteland, it's not long before that semblance of calm comes crumbling down and our survivors set off on a quest for bloody revenge.

Be prepared for some big changes in The Last of Us Part 2. Creative director Neil Druckmann intended to make bold choices with this sequel, taking elements of the first game that players have become attached to and tearing them apart.

"The first game is so sacred. The ending is so sacred,” Druckmann said in an interview published last week. “People are always like, ‘do another one but focus are all new characters.’ Or like, ‘do it in, like, Europe. Or do it in Japan. Do something really different’.”

"To me, at that point, you might as well just do a new IP," he continued, "versus saying: no, we’re gonna double down and we’re gonna expose what this ending means. To take some of the things that people hold sacred and just… dismantle it."

We'll be regularly streaming The Last of Us Part 2 over the coming days and weeks on our YouTube channel. You should subscribe to it, because it's super-rad.
