The Last of Us: Part 2 dev diary discusses the game's dangerous world

Naughty Dog has released its final development diary for The Last of Us: Part 2.

The latest inside look at The Last of Us: Part 2 has been released by Sony and Naughty Dog, and it focuses on the game's world.

In it, the team discusses how dangerous the world is once you leave a protective area, how each step of the way Ellie will put herself in more danger, and how the game world is much bigger than the original. This includes the scope and physical spaces to explore.

Naughty Dog also talks about level design, such as rivers, weather, craggy cliffs, and blind corners where you may not see the threat ahead of you.

The town in the game, Jackson, is also discussed and how it features a small community of people with a sense of family dedicated to rebuilding their lives in a way that doesn't involve killing people and scavaging. The town basically represents what's at stake for the game's characters - a life of peace and relative comfort.

Seattle is of course very different from Jackson. The city is more of a warzone, as the Pacific Northwest in the game has more resources which the factions are fighting over. One of these factions is the Washington Liberation Front which was able to defeat the army and take over much of the equipment - turning them into a very militant faction. There's also the Seraphites, a religious faction also known as Scars.

In the game, almost any group which has survived this long will be dangerous. And the two factions in the game are both very dangerous and how you deal with them will be different. Then, there are the dogs Ellie will have to deal with along with the infected.

Give the developer diary a watch to find out more about the world.

The Last of Us: Part 2 releases June 19 on PS4.
