The Drowning - new trailer for former Battlefield dev's tablet FPS

The Drowning boasts some serious shooter chops behind it thanks to project lead Ben Cousins, former executive producer of the Battlefield series. See how a veteran shooter team makes the jump to touch controls in the trailer through the break.

As you can see, Cousins and his team at Scattered Entertainment (which includes Halo and Far Cry veterans) have put plenty of thought into how to translate shooter mechanics to very simple controls. Rather than emulate twin sticks, you can shoot at any point on the screen without having to move the camera - but still have control of navigation. It's an interesting take.

The Drowning concerns a new kind of oil which begins seeping out of the ocean bed, transforming everything it touches into monstrous forms; it's expected later this year on iPad and will be free-to-play.
