The Division 2's exotic weapons and gear will work similar to Destiny's

The Division 2 follows Destiny's lead when it comes to exotics, and the new talent system is explained.

Following on from September's weapons update which covered the new rifle weapon category for The Division 2, Arekkz is back with more details on exotic gear changes, and breaks down the new talent system.

It sounds like The Division 2 will be taking a leaf out of Destiny's book, with exotic weapons designed to be something a bit more special this time around, rather than just a gun with a bit of aesthetic pizzazz. They'll each have their own lore to make them more unique, and will be a lot more powerful.

And you won't be able to go nuts equipping entire exotic sets either. Players will be limited to one exotic weapon and one exotic piece of gear in their loadout, but you can upgrade them as you progress through the game.

We won't see any of The Division's exotic weapons appear in the sequel; they'll all be brand new.

Alex also touches on the new talent system that will feature three categories: active talent, characteristic talent, and holstered talent.

Active talent is gameplay based, and includes things like headshots, bleeding, etc. Characteristic talent is a feature related to weapon handling and behaviour, like stability, long range capabilities, and whatnot. Holstered talent is a passive buff that activates when your weapon isn't being used to gun people down.

All high end weapons will have one talent in each category.

You can swot up on the finer details of exotics and the new talent system in the video above.

The Division 2 will release on March 15, 2019, for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
