Thatgamecompany: Journey destination originally a cliff with "a crack"

The iconic mountain that players must travel to in Journey wasn't a mountain at all at one stage.

"It was a very iterative process," said art director Matt Nova.

"We just tried out a whole lot of things, we drew zillions of pencil drawings before we even went to the computer. That's where the idea of this mountain originated. Originally, it wasn't a mountain, it was a cliff and there was a crack in the cliff."

The revelation came in a brand new behind-the-scenes video for the game, featuring many of the studio's main figures and Sony Santa Monica producers talking about its experiences with the game.
