Tenchu developer reveals modern day action Akiba's Trip

20110120akihabara

What do you do after churning out a dozen top-notch samurai and ninja games? Acquire is making a game about hunting a shapeshifting vampire in the streets of Tokyo's famed geek district, Akihabara.

Akiba's Trip was spotted by 1UP in Japanese gaming magazines.

Reportedly, it's an action adventure PSP title much like Acquire's Way of the Samurai series, transposed to a modern setting, recreated in loving detail to the point of licensing famous local stores.

Japan sees the game on April 14 and while it seems an unlikely candidate for localisation, Western geek culture's fascination with Akihabara and precedents like Square Enix's The World Ends With You, set in Shibuya, may get it over the border.
