Tango's first game coming in 2013 at earliest, uses external engine

The first project from Tango Gamework, the Bethesda-owned studio created by Shinji Mikami, won't release this year, ZeniMax Asia boss Toru Takahashi has said in a 4Gamer interview, saying the title won't launch until next year at the earliest.

A timeline hasn't been put on the project, set to be Mikami's last as a director, with Bethesda PR VP Pete Hines telling VG247 last January the title was "ways out".

In the 4Gamer interview, Mikami confirmed the game will use an outside engine, but will be heavily optimised to the point it will be like an internal engine.

Tango currently has 65 staff, according to Mikami, and is looking to cap it at about 100. But in terms of number of 'lines' in the studio - we assume that means teams - he said he'd like to have two, one for messing about and training, the other for production.

Tango was founded in early 2010 by the Resident Evil creator whilst he was working on Vanquish for Platinum, as well as executive producing Grasshopper/EA horror Shadows of the Damned. Bethesda partent ZeniMax bought the studio in October that year.

Thanks, Andriasang.
