Taki confirmed for Soulcalibur 6
Much-loved fan favourite ninja Taki isn't skipping out on the latest entry in the Soulcalibur series.
Thanks to a trailer leak from NicoNico video in Japan caught by the Soulcalibur and Tekken experts over at AvoidingThePuddle we now know that series regular ninja Taki won't be missing out on Soulcalibur 6 - and we've got a first glimpse at her move set from the trailer. It all looks quite familiar, though there's a new twist here and there.
Here's Namco's description of her: "Taki is a famous ninja also known as the Fu-Ma’s Shadow, so there’s no doubting her fighting skills! She is also an expert in blacksmithing having crafted her own two swords Rekki-Maru & Mekki-Maru. Her last master piece Mekki-Maru is fused with a fragment of the Cursed Sword. Even if the whereabouts of the Soul Edge are unknown, Taki’s weapon still glows with a mysterious power..."
Taki appeared in every game from the very start of the series - so Soul Edge and then Soulcalibur right through to the fourth entry - but she was notably absent from Soulcalibur 5, something which caused some outcry among fans. Instead that game featured Taki's apprentice Natsu, with developer thinking being that Taki would be too old to still be at the active ninja game during the period of time that game takes place.
Soulcalibur 6's setting isn't exactly clear, but it appears to be some sort of timeline reset or prequel. As far as we can tell from the Soulcalibur 6 character roster and other information about the game it appears to take place after Soulcalibur 2 but before the rest of the series - meaning Taki is ripe for her return.
Taki typically fights with dual swords, the Rekki-Maru and Mekki-Maru. She has the ninja skills you'd expect, including a light bit of magical ninjitsu and lightning-fast speed.
