12-inch Surface Pro 3 Tablet announced

Microsoft announced a 12-inch Surface tablet during the Microsoft Surface Event in New York City today.

The tablet comes with a 12-inch, 2160 x1440 resolution display with a 3:2 aspect ratio, reports IGN. It runs on Windows 8.1 Pro, and contains a 4th-generation Intel Core processor housed in a 9.1mm-thick casing. It also works with the digital Surface Pen.

This makes the tablet the "thinnest Intel Core product ever made," one of the lightest at 800 grams.

It's available for pre-order starting tomorrow through the Microsoft web store, third-party retailers and Microsoft retail stores.

Surface Pro 3 starts at $799, and the price goes up depending on whether you want an Intel Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7.

4GB or 8GB of RAM are also on offer with four storage options starting at 64GB all the way up to 512GB.
