Current 3DS models won't support Miiverse, Internet while running Super Smash Bros.

While Nintendo’s “New Nintendo 3DS” and “New Nintendo 3DS XL” aren't expected to arrive in the west until sometime next year, it's being reported that Miiverse and the Internet Browser will only be available on these system variants while playing Super Smash Bros.

The lack of functionality for the current 3DS skus was noted in a NeoGAF post, which shows the lack of online and Miiverse capability in the Japanese version of the upcoming brawler.

Hardware in the current models apparently can't support running both the game and the online apps at the same time if 60FPS is to be maintained. Thanks to advanced hardware in the "New 3DS" swill have full Miiverse functionality, this will apparently be a non-issue.

Thanks, Nintendo Life.
