Carolina Panthers will win Super Bowl 50, so says Madden NFL 16

Every year, the latest Madden game offers up its Super Bowl pick. For the big event this year, the video game predicts a close one.

Madden games have done rather well in the past. As of 2015, it has nine correct picks under its helmet. That puts the game franchise up there with Paul the Octopus.

When pitting the Carolina Panthers against the Denver Broncos in its simulation, Carolina set the tone early with a 10 – 0 lead thanks to a "huge kick return" by Ted Ginn Jr. which Cam Newton finished off with a touchdown pass to Greg Olsen. A field goal closed the quarter, and another touchdown was performed in the second quarter.

Down by 17 points come halftime, Denver broncos quarter back Peyton Manning rallied his team's offense, but in the end, the Panthers stood victorious, claiming Super Bowl 50 by a score of 24 – 20.

Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was named Super Bowl MVP Award because in the simulation he completed 19 of 26 passes for 216 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

Madden NFL 16 joined the EA Access Vault today, joinging Battlefield Hardline, UFC, FIFA 15, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Titanfall, Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, Peggle 2 and others.

Super Bowl 50 airs on CBS Sunday, February 7 at 3.30pm PT/6.30pm ET. The halftime show features Coldplay with special guest Beyonce.
