Summer Game Fest 2021 looks set to be "more condensed" than debut year

But we still don't know what to expect from this year's iteration of Geoff Keighley's show.

This year's Summer Game Fest is going to be "more condensed" than its debut in 2020.

That's according to organiser Geoff Keighley, who said on Twitter that the team was going to "make it more condensed." In a subsequent tweet, the industry personality said that its debut last year was "tough" due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"Last year was tough with COVID, appreciate the vote on confidence," Keighley wrote.

"We are seeing what can come together!"

There isn't much news yet about what else we can expect from Summer Game Fest 2021, or in fact what a "more condensed" show would even look like.

Geoff Keighley announced the Summer Game Fest in May 2020. This was a four-month-long series of events featuring news and games from some of the top games developers and publishers. The Xbox Summer Game Fest event saw Microsoft sharing "between 75 and 100" game demos.

“In these uncertain and challenging times, it’s more important than ever that video games serve as a common and virtual connection point between us all,” Keighley said when announcing the first Summer Game Fest.

“SGF is an organising principle that promises fans a whole season of video game news and other surprises from the comfort of home.”

The news about Summer Game Fest 2021 comes in the wake of reports that E3 2021 is going to be a digital-only event. This will be apparently taking place between June 15 and 17.
