Strike Vector footage shows off flight sim shooter hybrid

Vehicle combat isn't a new genre but this indie effort gives you some sort of hover jet dealio and I am 100% on board. See Strike Vector in action through the break.

Described as an intense multiplayer first and third-person air combat game for PC, Strike Vector allows the player to switch between two play modes.

In Jet Mode, players race through the skies like a typical vehicle (where "typical" applies to transforming hover jets), moving from firefight to firefight. Once you're ready to tackle a foe, you can switch to Hover Mode, which is more like a typical shooter, with strafing and iron sights.

Built on Unreal 3 via the UDK, Strike Vector is supposed to capture and old-school feel similar to Crimson Skies, Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament. There's no release date as yet, and although a solo mode is planned, multiplayer will be the focus. The project's website has a collection of screenshots.

Strike Vector is the first game from a new French indie composed of four veterans; according to the group's Facebook page, their collective previous credits include stints at Quantic Dream, Evolution Studios, Sony Liverpool, Darkworks, Dontnod, Nadeo, Ankama, Virtual Studio, 4x Technologie, Visual Impact, Lexis Numerique and Vivendi Universal Games.
