Strange Brigade's brand new fifth character is free at launch for a limited time

Strange Brigade rewards players who pre-order or buy at launch with a free character.

Winston Bey is the fifth character to join the Strange Brigade, and he'll be free to players who pre-order, or pick up the game within 30 days of its release.

"Prospector, journalist, spy, diplomat and traveller – Winston Bey has explored the world and seen it all," reads the character's bio. "He tells himself the Brigade’s adventures are 'just an amusing diversion' in his extensive voyages, but the Department of Antiquities already has longer-term employment in mind…"

The supernatural co-op shooter was unveiled last year, by Sniper Elite dev, Rebellion.

The game rewards players for exploring its maps, and encourages efficient fighting that'a built around keeping a combo meter high. You can read more about it in our preview.

Strange Brigade will have free monthly content and a season pass, with Rebellion dedicated to rolling out regular support and updates.

The studio has previously stated that it's not interested in a “games as service” model.

"I’m a strong believer in the traditional style of game – here’s a game, you pay the price, you get the game," said Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley, back in June. "There’s DLC, expansion content – that kind of stuff – but that’s it."

Strange Brigade launches for PC, PS4, and Xbox One, on August 28.
