If the 90s-inspired launch trailer for Pixel Titan's roguelike shooter didn't impress you, maybe STRAFE: The Movie will.

As you can see in the trailer above, the megahit video game of 1996 is now the "motion picture event of a lifetime."

In the film, a fella goes into the game to get his girlfriend back after InsideSTRAFE abducted her into its cyber world.

Along the way, the star of the films talks to a scientist, gets help fighting off the government from skateboard-wielding pals, and a bunch of other crazy s**t.

Hey, Hollywood. Next time you want to make a movie based on a video game, give Devolver Digital a call. They know how it's done.

STRAFE first popped up on the radar back in 2015 when it was funded through Kickstarter for IBM-compatible personal computers, and PlayStation 4.

Along with roguelike elements, the game features randomly-generated levels, crazy enemies, "super secrets" and monster closets which sound like something you wouldn't want to open the door to.

The Oculus-compatible title is out now on PC, Mac and PlayStation 4.
