Steam Spring Cleaning Event features plenty of games you can play for free

Holiday weekend? Video games? And free at that? Sign us up.

Valve has announced the Steam Spring Cleaning Event, and it's going on this weekend.

Over in the UK and the US, May 28 is a holiday, which means come Friday, many of us don't have to report back to work until Tuesday. Super.

This weekend, starting today, Steam users who dig into their Steam Library and play games they haven't looked at in a while. This includes games sitting in your library you haven't had the chance to play yet.

For most of us, that makes up 90% of our Steam library, thanks to various sales over the years. It's a sickness.

Anyway, doing the aforementioned will unlock the Spring Cleaning badge, and it can even be leveled up.

Along with the news of a fun badge to earn, Steam is also offering up nine games which are free to play all weekend long.

  • Borderlands 2
  • Castle Crashers
  • Cities: Skylines
  • Dead by Daylight
  • Dirt 4
  • Don't Starve Together: A New Regin
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Shadow of Mordor
  • Tyranny

Rather nice list of titles, don't you think?
