Starbound sales top 1 million after one month on Steam Early Access

Starbound's combined Steam and independent sales have passed the 1 million mark, a major milestone for the indie sci-fi sandbox.

Developer Chucklefish announced the milestone on Twitter, but did not give any further information or a breakdown of how many sales were made through Steam as opposed to through its website.

We're pretty sure Steam sales have been strong; Starbound charted in third place over the holidays, just behind juggernauts DayZ and Skyrim.

Independent sales shouldn't be discredited, though. Prior to launching on Steam Early Access in December, Starbound raised over $1 million in pre-orders thanks to a compelling, open development campaign.

You can get on board on Steam or directly via Chucklefish. Starbound is available on Linux, Mac and PC.
