Spy Party to head Indie Showcase at EVO 2012

Chris Hecker's spy vs. sniper title will feature in playable form at fight game tournament, EVO 2012. To celebrate, there are 50 early-access beta invites available to EVO attendees.

SpyParty

Spy Party will feature as an Indie Showcase title at this year's EVO 2012. EVO attendees can sign-up for the chance to be awarded one of 50 beta keys available to show-goers.

Indie developer Chris Hecker describes Spy Party as "a spy game about human behavior, performance, perception, and deception."

The game pits two players against one another, one as spy at a party, the other as a sniper peering in from afar and trying to distinguish the human spy player from the AI party-goers in order to eliminate them before they achieve their objectives.

Hecker said of his decision to take Spy Party to EVO 2012:

"When I was contacted about bringing my in-development indie game Spy Party to Evo 2012, I was unbelievably excited to get such an intensely competitive community playing it, but I was also more than a little nervous! My goal for SpyParty has always been to make an incredibly deep asymmetric player-skill competitive game, one that focuses on behavior, psychology, perception, and deception…but was the game ready to be dissected by super-hardcore fighting game players?

"Then I was told that fighting game players aren’t just good at fighters–they’re good at games, and breaking down systems, period. They like games that involve psychology, competition, or are just insanely difficult. That sounds exactly like the people I want playing SpyParty!

"So, I’m bringing three 1v1 setups for SpyParty to the Evo 2012 show floor, and we’ll maybe even try to get some internet play going so the folks at the top of the closed beta leaderboards can play people in the booth."

The game is currently in closed beta, details can be found over at the Spy Party website.

EVO 2012 takes place between July 6 and July 8 in Las Vegas.
