Splinter Cell Conviction hits US Steam, Euro version to cost €50

splintercell6

The latest Splinter Cell is now available on the American version of Steam ahead of a European launch later this week. Warning: it's not cheap.

The US version costs $60, or $65 for the Deluxe Edition. The European Deluxe Edition, releasing this Friday, is to cost an eye-watering €55; that's $73 in good ol' greenbacks.

Europeans can pre-load the standard version for €49.99. Yay.

And remember: you must have a reliable internet connection to play the PC version of Conviction thanks to Ubi's PC DRM. From Steam:

A PERMANENT HIGH SPEED INTERNET CONNECTION AND CREATION OF A UBISOFT ACCOUNT ARE REQUIRED TO PLAY THIS VIDEO GAME AT ALL TIMES AND TO UNLOCK EXCLUSIVE CONTENT. SUCH CONTENT MAY ONLY BE UNLOCKED ONE SINGLE TIME WITH A UNIQUE KEY. YOU MUST BE AT LEAST 13 TO CREATE A UBISOFT ACCOUNT WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT. UBISOFT MAY CANCEL ACCESS TO ONLINE FEATURES UPON A 30-DAY PRIOR NOTICE PUBLISHED AT http://www.splintercell.com/conviction/

The game's been hitting the UK charts hard thanks to an excellent 360 version. You can buy it for £35 on Amazon, where the PC version costs £25.

Just saying.
