Splatoon tournament in Japan offering $1 million prize pool

Splatoon is getting its own eSports tournament in Japan with a $1 million prize pool.

The tournament is sponsored by Famitsu owner Kadokawa along with Dwango, which owns the major Japanese gaming website Nicovide.

A series of tournaments will kick off next month, culminating on January 30th.

The sponsors are also hosting a $1 million tournament for Puzzle & Dragons.

Splatoon has been a rather big hit for Nintendo. Back in June, the company announced the ink shooter had sold over 1 million copies within its debut month.
