Splatoon 2's Octo Expansion will launch tomorrow, and updates will continue until December

If you're keen for more Splatoon 2 you won't have to wait long.

In the aftermath of their E3 2018 Direct, Nintendo has given the Splatoon 2 DLC a release date - and it's very soon. Depending on your region, it'll appear on the eShop somewhere between the evening of June 13 (in the United States) and the afternoon of June 14 (in Australia and New Zealand). Not long to wait now, then.

The Octo Expansion, announced back in March, includes a new campaign featuring the Octolings. This is the first time the Octolings have been available as playable characters, having previously only appeared in certain campaign levels as antagonists.

There will apparently be '80+ missions' in this expansion, so don't expect them to be as hefty as the original campaign's missions. Completing the campaign unlocks the Octolings as playable characters online, which is pretty exciting.

These characters will also get their own amiibo, if you're still collecting, which will release as a three-pack. It's not yet clear what their in-game functionality will be.

Nintendo has also announced that new content for the game will continue to drop until December - meaning new weapons, gear, and possibly even stages. Support was meant to wrap up in July, but Nintendo's enormously popular game will, instead, continue to receive updates.

Meanwhile, the Squidlings are going to make their Smash Bros debut this December, which should be good fun.

Will you be picking up the new Splatoon expansion, or do you prefer to stick purely to the multiplayer?
