Splash Damage's Dirty Bomb renamed Extraction, to be published by Nexon

Dirty Bomb has been reworked with a new title, and the multiplayer shooter now known as Extraction has been picked up by Nexon.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed to VG247 that Extraction is the renamed Dirty Bomb.

ORIGINAL STORY: The free-to-play affair is the product of Splash Damage, best known for the Enemy Territory games but also responsible for Brink, RAD Soldiers, and Batman: Arkham Origins' multiplayer.

As Polygon notes, assets released so far bear a marked similarity to the project announced as Dirty Bomb in late 2012. It has been kept largely under wraps, producing some pre-alpha footage and a trailer before going dark for several months.

A new teaser site has been launched, and as with Dirty Bomb, it makes mention of a mysterious attack on London, and squads of mercenaries duking it out in the ruins. They must either secure or destroy the secrets left behind, apparently, and Extraction boasts a wide variety of mercenaries capable of sniping, healing, direct attacks or cover fire. Splash damage also sems very keen to communicate that play will be entirely skill-based, and metrics will be used to ensure balance.

Nexon will bring Extraction to PC in Australia, Europe, New Zealand and North America.
