Splash Damage: It was “time to put colours back in First-Person Shooters"

Bored of the grey in your first-person shooters? Splash Damage is too, hence the rainbow-coloured Brink.

Splash Damage art boss Oliver Leonardi has told IGN it the studio believed it was time to break away from action gaming's stereotypical monochrome.

"It is time to put colours back in first person shooters," he said.

"Of course, by the time you finish making this kind of bold statement there are other people that might release games doing the same thing! Yes, it's true, I wanted to fight gloominess and blandness as I truly think we had enough of that, but I wanted it to fit within Brink's context.

"The Ark is a floating island sitting in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The place is flooded with light, the ocean around acts like a giant mirror adding even more light, and this light then bounces everywhere, making bright colours bleed."

Brink releases next Friday in the UK for PS3, 360 and PC. Watch the latest video for it here.
