Spider-Man swings into E3 with new footage

Spider-Man did whatever a spider can - a bit more than a spider could, actually - during Sony's E3 presentation.

Spider-Man was showcased during Sony's E3 presentation today, giving us our promised deep dive into Spidey's big adventure by showcasing a new mission.

The new footage shows Spidey and an associate taking a helicopter to a prison ship where Electro is running wild, letting all the prisoners loose. This gives Spider-Man, who put most of these crooks in prison himself, a great opportunity to showcase his combat prowess. He's able to fling himself around like a piece of elastic, slinging webs with abandon, which looks pretty fun.

Electro's not the only villain he contends with, either - across this trailer, Rhino, Scorpion, Vulture, and Mr Negative pop up.

Midway through the footage a chase breaks out, and it looks like the game has got web-slinging right. That's good, because web-slinging is always the best part of a good Spider-Man game (see: Spider-Man 2 for PS2).

The trailer ends with Spider-Man being surprised by something off screen. Let the speculation begin!

Spider-Man is due to release exclusively on PS4 on September 7. Preorder to get his Infinity War skin. It's going to be playable on the show floor, too, so look forward to some hands-on reports emerging - hopefully it's as fun as it looks.
