Spider-Man: Miles Morales' Ultimate Edition comes with a PS5 remaster of the PS4 game

You'll be able to play an upgraded version of PS4's Spider-Man on PS5, after all.

Following the big PS5 Showcase, Sony officially confirmed an old rumour - and something fans suspected, which is that Spider-Man: Miles Morales comes with a remastered version of base PS4 game.

That's technically true, but the remaster is only included in the game's Ultimate Edition, which is priced $70 like most other PS5 games made by first-party studios. The Ultimate Edition also includes all The City That Never Sleeps add-ons for the PS4 game, as well as three new suits.

As for the remaster itself, developer Insomniac Games says art assets "have been completely updated" to take advantage of the PS5's power. This includes improved lighting, and better looking characters thanks to improved skin, eye, hair and facial animations. Ray tracing has been confirmed, as well, augmenting reflections and ambient shadows.

The upgrade also includes other neat touches like more NPCs and cars stretching into the distance. As with Miles Morales, the remaster offers a 60fps performance mode. Outside of that, you can expect it to make use of the DualSense controller's haptic feedback and the PS5's 3D audio.

Both Miles Morales, and the PS5 remaster of Spider-Man will be available at the PS5's launch, beginning November 12. As previously revealed, the base game - without the remaster - is priced $50.
