Update: It's been announced. The show said it's going to be open to the public, to some extent at least. Details here.

VG247 has learnt that ESA is planning to bring back E3 with a bang next year, planning a "huge" LA event, according to a well placed US publishing source, speaking in San Francisco last night.

The American organisation has thus far kept plans for the show completely under wraps, but this GoNintendo post brings word that G4's going to have news on 2009's E3 in X-Play tonight.

Public? We think so. We'll have more on this later.
