Sony would like to stream PlayStation games to PC, TVs, tablets & more, states Yoshida

SCE Worldwide Studios boss Shuhei Yoshida has explained that using the power of Gaikai streaming, he would like to see PlayStation games brought to all devices, be it PC, Blu-Ray players, mobiles and tablets.

It comes as Gaikai PS3 streaming was pegged for a 2014 launch in North America, while a big question mark still hovers over Europe due to Sony's supposed broadband concerns.

Speaking with Dengeki Online, Yoshida discussed his own aspirations for the service, and stressed that he'd like to see it go multi-format. He said, "Speaking of the ultimate goal, we would like to deliver PlayStation games to all devices. So we’re considering various things like PC, TVs, Blu-ray players, smartphones and tablets. We hope to continue to expand not only to Sony devices, but even to devices other than Sony’s. This is still being studied.

"We previously spoke about PlayStation going from hardware to something closer to a service, regardless of the device — Of course PlayStation will still be the center, but I think we would like to expand to different things."

Streaming content to multiple devices does seem to be on Sony's radar, as shown with PS Vita TV, and the way it can stream PS4 and media content.

What do you make of the above?
