Sony will not attend Pax East due to"increasing concerns" over coronavirus

Sony has announced it will not be attending Pax East 2020 next week after all due to "increasing concerns" over the coronavirus.

The company made the announcement it was skipping Pax East 2020 on the US PS Blog.

Here's the statement in full:

Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment made the decision to cancel its participation at PAX East in Boston this year due to increasing concerns related to COVID-19 (also known as “novel coronavirus”). We felt this was the safest option as the situation is changing daily. We are disappointed to cancel our participation in this event, but the health and safety of our global workforce is our highest concern.

One of the games Sony was bringing to the event was The Last of Us: Part 2. Media Molecule's Dreams, Iron Man VR and others were also to be playable on the show floor.

Other cancelations or event delays of late due to concerns over the virus include the Tapei Game Show, April’s PUBG Global Series in Berlin, and The Outer Worlds was also delayed for Switch.
