Sony: Ueda "committed" to finishing The Last Guardian

Sony's told IGN that Team ICO boss Fumito Ueda is "committed" to finishing up development on The Last Guardian.

In a statement, SCEA said Ueda "is in fact under contract and is committed to completing his work on The Last Guardian."

However, the Sony statement doesn't actually state if he's under contract as a full-time Sony employee or as a freelancer, nor does it answer his long-term future with the company following Guardian.

It was rumoured last week by Eurogamer that Ueda had decided to leave the company, instead opting to finishing work on Team ICO's next title as a freelancer.

Following the story, he tweeted work on the title was continuing as normal, but didn't mention details on his future at Sony.

Earlier this week, casual games firm Bossa Studios announced it had hired producer on The Last Guardian, Yoshifusa Hayama, as its creative director.

The Last Guardian is expected at some point in 2012.
