Sony trademarks PlayStation TV (again)

And IGN reader has dug up a trademark application for a "PlayStation TV" service mark from Sony filed on June 26 of this year. This was actually the second time they've filed this trademark - the first came in 2006, but that mark lapsed last year.

So what does this mean? Well, you might recall that at the Sony E3 presser this year Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton said they would be producing new gamer-oriented original content exclusively for the PlayStation Network, and it could be related to that. Or it could just be a hedge, as I would assume the 2006 filing was. Sit tight.
