Sony to release standalone 320GB PS3 at retail

320gbps3

Back in August, Sony announced a 320GB PS3 bundle with Move, Eye and Sports Champions but promised other options soon.

Today is "soon", apparently, because the company just announced a standalone 320GB system is now shipping to stores.

Sony said the larger storage offering is due to "the digital distribution trend" gaining momentum, and that it's "committed to providing you with the hardware you need to support as much downloadable media as possible".

The system is expected to ship soon to retailers, and it will run you $349.99, which is $50-less than the bundle mentioned above so, now you'll have to choose between the two. However, it's still only $50 more than the 160GB so it's a good deal on that end.
