Sony Santa Monica updates on Cory Balrog project, 'crappy' prototypes & PS4 development
Sony Santa Monica Studio has taken to Twitter and Facebook to discuss the team's PS4 development and even shed a little light on the status of God of War 2 director Cory Barlog’s unannounced game.
It follows Sony Santa Monica moving away from Santa Monica to set up a new office. Hit the link for an update on how this will aid the team moving in to PS4 development.
Speaking of which, the team has been discussing its work on Sony's new hardware, along with this update on Cory Balrog's mystery game:
@TooPawned Hahahaha, that is not even close to 75% completion. :) Was purely referring to side projects.

Still 75% is better than 50%, so this could mean that a reveal of some kind is billed for this year. We'll have to wait and see.
Elsewhere; senior level designer Rob Davis has discussed the nature of his team's prototyping phase, which involves a lot of 'crappy' prototypes. He means this in a joking, humorous way, of course.
Then he said this:
Been thinking about the effectiveness of crappy prototypes a lot today while playing DragonsDogma. Some of their ideas are really out there!

Could Dragon's Dogma or fantasy RPGs in general influence whatever the team is working on now? Is it God of War PS4? Who knows?
He continued:
One thing I love w our designers is how much crappy stuff they put in early on to prove an idea out. I love the crappy stuff! Vote1crappy!

As long as I can remember, good production strategies encouraged getting that crappy stuff in so there's a long runway for iteration. :)

Sometimes I think the trickiest part is knowing whether it's something with potential or if it's actually just crappy lol

Hands up if you'd love to see these 'crappy' prototypes.
