Sony: Michael Denny and Scott Rohde appointed as WWS region heads for Europe and America

Following rumour that European Sony studios boss Michael Denny was to be promoted into a more senior development management role at SCEE earlier this month, the firm confirmed this morning that the exec is to be promoted to SVP, Worldwide Studios Europe.

"I'm looking forward to this new challenge, and in particular, the opportunity to further my work with the many talented development teams, both internally & externally, that make up WWS Europe... we have an unprecedented portfolio of AAA titles this year, such as MotorStorm:Pacific Rift, Singstar, Buzz Quiz TV, LittleBigPlanet & Killzone 2, which we're looking forward to showcasing further, over the coming months," said Denny.

In addition, Scott Rohde - senior director at Sony's San Diego studio since 2003 - will be promoted to VP, Worldwide Studios America.

Yasuhide Kobayashi will continue to manage Japan Studio as SVP.

WWS Regions

Michael Denny and Scott Rohde will be appointed as the WWS region heads for Europe and America, respectively. In their new roles, Michael and Scott will assume overall responsibility for WWS operations in each region including managing all internal studios and external productions. Yasuhide Kobayashi will continue to manage Japan Studio as Senior Vice President.

Michael Denny will be promoted to Senior Vice President, Worldwide Studios Europe. Michael has had responsibilities relating to many past and current major PlayStation projects, including: Destruction Derby; Formula 1; WRC; Athens Olympics; Killzone; Buzz; MotorStorm and LittleBigPlanet. Michael joined Psygnosis at the launch of PlayStation in Europe in 1995 as Head of Business Affairs. In 2000, he moved to SCEE Product Development in the new role of Director of External Development, and was promoted to Vice President in 2002. Since 2006, he has added responsibility for internal studios, including Guerrilla, Liverpool and Evolution Studios.

Scott Rohde will be promoted to Vice President, Worldwide Studios America. Scott has been Senior Director of the San Diego Studios since 2003. His studio has focused on sports development, including the MLB, NBA and ATV franchises, as well as introduced popular PSN titles PAIN and High Velocity Bowling. Prior to joining SCEA, Scott had assumed various product development management roles in the industry including Co-founder and Director of Development of Page 44 Studios, Production Director for a Radical Entertainment/ESPN joint venture and Sports production management at Sega of America.
