Sony giving away 10,000 all-access beta keys for Dust 514, Vita companion app revealed

CCP Games has announced a number of details regarding the premier beta event for the PlayStation 3-exclusive massively multiplayer shooter Dust 514, including a special giveaway in honour of E3.

The debut beta event is scheduled to begin on Friday June 29, and run over the course of the weekend. Gamers interested in participating can head to www.DUST514.com/beta to sign up for random selection.

As part of Sony’s Virtual E3 Experience in PlayStation Home, a DUST 514 Home Space has been launched. The first 10,000 visitors to the Space will be able to obtain an “All Access” beta key. The key guarantee players access to all DUST 514 beta events over the coming months. The Space will remain live throughout the summer, with additional beta keys to be distributed through Home in the future.

CCP Games has also revealed a companion app for PlayStation Vita, entitled DUST 514: Neocom. The app "integrates services that incorporate the feel and functionality" of the PlayStation 3 title, "with a focus on customization, communication and trade".

The app allows players to customise their characters, configure load-outs, and access a range of social features, including access to the in-game Mail system and Friends List, when on the go. Players will also be able to use the app to access the DUST 514 Marketplace, where new weapons, items and vehicles can be purchased using either ISK (in-game earned currency) or Aurum (purchased currency). The app will be available later this year.
