Sony gives player free PS5 for being first in line for PS4 and PS4 Pro

Sony has given a PlayStation 5 to one Joey Chiu entirely free of charge.

In the grim and often dystopian late capitalist world we live in, why would a multinational corporation do something like this? Well, Chiu was the first person in line to buy both the PlayStation 4 and more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro consoles.

In a post on Twitter, Chiu showed off the new machine, which comes with a message saying: "Patience is a virtue. This is for you," before the console's marketing tagline: "Play has no limits."

The PlayStation 5 is launching on November 12 or 19 depending on where in the world you happen to live. Everything you need to know about Sony's new console can be found right here.

We've already been hands-on with the machine, saying in our review that the PS5 truly feels like a next-gen experience.

"Spending $499 on a new console is by no means a small outlay, and for that kind of money it’s important to feel excited," VG247 editor-in-chief Tom Orry wrote. "I’m looking forward to getting a Series X, but I’m excited about the PS5, its superb controller, slick new UI, and that glimpse into next-gen with Demon’s Souls. For me, if you’re after that new generation thrill, PS5 is currently the only choice."

The reception seems to be pretty warm across the board, too.
