Sonic celebrates 17th birthday

According to SegaNerds, Sonic the Hedgehog was 17 years old yesterday.

Apparently, Sonic the Hedgehog was released in North America and Europe on June 23, 1991, with Japanese gamers having to wait until late July for the game. We have no idea if this is true or not, but we're prepared to believe.

Happy birthday, Sonic. Here's to another 17 years of running in a straight line.
