Snake Plissken's ESCAPE footage emerges

The Internet has been sheltering an absolute treasure: footage of a cancelled game based on the character of Snake Plissken, which was influential for the Metal Gear series among many others.

New footage of the game was turned up by industry sleuth Superannuation, writing for Kotaku, and was announced by Namco in 2003 as a licensed take on the films Escape from L.A and Escape from New York.

Intend for 2005 release on unknown platforms, the Dead to Rights-like action affair used Kurt Russell's likeness, and had a story approved by Russell, John Carpenter and Debra Hill. The campaign was nearly complete when the project was shelved for unknown reasons, but check out some footage below.

As usual, Super's column is full of other interesting tidbits form around the industry, but this week it's mainly suggestive of upcoming announces rather than anything truly tantalising; go forth and read.
