Sky to air 3DS London launch party tomorrow

Sky's announced it's to air tonight's launch party of 3DS in London tomorrow on Sky TV.

The event, known as Nintendo 3DS Ignition, will see live comedy from Russell Kane and performances from Plan B and Hadouken. It'll be aired on Friday in 3D on Sky's 3D channel as well as in HD on Sky One.

"We're delighted to extend our relationship with Nintendo to help build their own 3D association whilst providing our customers with yet more high-quality entertainment content on Sky 3D," said Sky's director of commercial partnerships, Graham Appleby.

"This is yet another example of innovation from Sky responding to the demands of customers and brands alike."

Nintendo UK marketing head Dawn Paine added: "Nintendo 3DS Ignition is not only a games industry first but marks the arrival of portable, glasses-free 3D gaming and entertainment. The opportunity to work with Sky to broadcast the event in 3D offers the perfect synergy in terms of helping building our credentials and bringing 3D to as many people as possible."

The network confirmed back at Nintendo's European 3DS blowout in Amsterdam in January it would provide 3D content for 3DS.

3DS launches from midnight tonight in Europe and goes on sale in the US on Sunday. Expect a full report from the main London launch party and launch afterwards.
