The Sinking City gets a creepy Lovecraftian trailer

The Sinking City, Frogwares upcoming Lovecraftian investigation game, has a new teaser trailer ahead of E3.

If you enjoy video games and the works of HP Lovecraft, 2018 is looking to be a good year. Not only are you getting a new Call of Cthulhu RPG, Sherlock Holmes developer Frogwares will debut The Sinking City at E3.

But hey, there's no reason we can't enjoy a teaser trailer now. It's not like knowledge is dangerous or anything, right?

The Sinking City takes place in Oakmont, Massachusetts, which is currently suffering from floods of a supernatural origin. You play as a private investigator who tries to uncover the source of this disaster, only to find monsters and reality-bending impossibilities along the way. Frogwares has previously described the game as an open-world horror title, a theme that is clearly on display here.

It's not clear how closely The Sinking City will hew to the Cthulhu Mythos, but it absolutely hits the right story beats. Disheveled, possibly insane investigator? Check. 1920s setting? Check. Giant unknowable monsters whose simple presence undermines human society? Check, check, check.

Of course, this is just a teaser. Frogwares will have more Sinking City content to share at E3 next month.
