SimCity dev explains the freedom of sandbox mode

SimCity games can be stressful, especially when you've got meteor showers pelting the homes of your residents, tornadoes throwing cars about and other nightmare scenarios kicking off. Developer Maxis has explained why these things won't be an issue in the game's customisable and less-stressful sandbox mode in a new blog.

The post, Maxis gameplay scripter Guillaume Pierre explains that if you want to play a game of SimCity without the threat of disasters or any element that usually causes you grief, you can turn them off using simple Alt command keys.

You won't be able to earn in-game achievements in this mode however, as it allows players to bend the rules to make the game more manageable. Either way it could serve as a neat training tool to help you fully understand how SimCity's complicated mechanics function.

The post also confirms that you can play cooperatively in sandbox mode with a few mates. What do you think of the decision to give players a tailored experience? Let us know below.
