Shadow of the Tomb Raider day-one patch removed an alternate post-credit scene

Looks like the day one patch for Shadow of the Tomb Raider removed one of the possible endings for the game.

When Shadow of the Tomb Raider released last week, a day one patch accompanied it.

Turns out, the patch did more than just apply a few fixes, it also removed a post-credit scene which was one of the possible endings to the game.

Square Enix posted an explanation for the removal to members of the Tomb Raider Official Fansite Program via Tomb Raider Forums (thanks, Siliconera).

The statement Square posted is below, and was verified with an official spokesperson by Siliconera.

"During the course of development on Shadow of the Tomb Raider, multiple post-credits scenes were explored. Unfortunately one of the directions that was considered, but not chosen, was mistakenly included in the game.

"The Day One patch fixes this error, along with many other improvements. As always, we highly recommend that our players install the patch to enjoy the complete and most up-to-date experience."

Those who have yet to patch the game have seen this ending, and if you don't mind spoilers, you can watch a video of it below, courtesy of Daft Raider.
