Season 3 of Telltale's The Walking Dead shambles into view later this year

Telltale is bringing The Walking Dead back for a third season this year.

Speaking with Mashable Telltale CEO Kevin Bruner said Season 3 will take new and "unexpected" steps tying the previous seasons together.

"The way we're validating and retaining those different playthroughs is really cool, unexpected and innovative from a storytelling point of view," he said. He added the team is using a "bag of tricks" it has never shown before from an "interactive storytelling point of view."

Bruner also said because the team didn't have access to cloud services in Season 1 as it does today, it is working on a solution which will allow players to import saves into Season 3.

A release window wasn't provided, but more information on The Walking Dead: Season 3 will be announced this summer.
