SBS On Demand added to Australian PlayStation Network

Sony Australia has announced a new addition to its Australian line up of digital TV - SBS On Demand.

The service, which is also available online, has been "optimised for viewing via PlayStation 3", and went live today.

SCE Australia managing director Michael Ephraim said Australian gamers are super keen on video services.

"We know from other TV on demand roll-outs on PS3 in Australia there is great appetite for the trial, uptake and customer appreciation of the convenience of new online entertainment delivery methods," he said in a statement.

"Further, the opportunity for content providers to access a footprint of 1.5 million PS3 consoles in Australia, on the highest selling console of 2011, is also an incredibly compelling one.”

Meanwhile, SBS managing director Michael Ebeid is all about providing options for viewers.

"We want to ensure Australians can access our original content wherever they are. The popularity of the PS3 will mean that more Australians in more homes across the country will be able to access our innovative On Demand service on their TV sets," he said.

And as everyone knows, all the best movies are on SBS. Have at it.
