Runescape's Wilderness to be reinstated

The Wilderness, Runescape's most dangerous, deadly and loot-tastic zone is back - and so is trading.

What does this mean to you? It mean you should gather up all your best gear and hide it somewhere very safe before somebody bangs you over the head and loots your corpse to trade it all off.

In a referendum attracting over one million players, Runescapers voted to restore the deadly PvP zone The Wilderness, which will be returned to the game along with new features accounting for evolved game mechanics.

The Wilderness is the only part of the Runescape world - or perhaps of any MMORPG - where combat with another player means the loss of everything your character has equipped.

Astoundingly, the one million or so players who want to get back to lotting their fellow 'scapers are also those who voted for free trading, which will be restored on February 1. I'm fairly certain we're not the first to draw a connection between these two features.

The referendum formed part of Runescape's anniversary celebrations as the free-to-play MMORPG rounded the ten-year post and showed no signs of quittin'.
