Sony US: Vita downloads to be cheaper than retail versions

After a discount on downloaded Vita games was spotted in-store, Sony has confirmed digital releases will be cheaper.

"I can confirm that there will be a discount on the downloadable PS Vita titles from PSN," a representative told Shack News.

"Exact details have not yet been revealed, but be on the lookout for an announcement in the very near future."

No percentage figure has been set for the price cut on online versions, but pre-orders spotted by a NeoGaf user at BestBuy show discounts of around 10%.

Earlier rumours had a digital discount pegged at a much more substantial 40%.

In the past Sony has matched physical and digital pricing, but is making a strong push for download sales with day-and-date digital releases on Vita. The new handheld launches on February 22.

Thanks, PSN Stores.
