Rumour: Social games giant Zynga to acquire mobile dev Astro Ape

The Farmville and Mafia Wars Facebook behemoth looks to be in the process of snapping up mobile gaming studio Astro Ape, according to a report by Business Insider.

According to the report, employees of Astro Ape - the mobile gaming studio responsible for Dessert Heroes, Office Heroes and Vegas Strip City - have been changing their LinkedIn profiles to indicate that they are now employed by casual games overlord, Zynga.

It's the latest in an acquisition spree by Zynga, who paid $53.3 million for Words with Friends creator New Toy and, at one stage, were in the running to acquire PopCap for a cool $1 billion cash, before EA swooped in.
