Rumor: Universal planning another Doom movie

Well, you asked for it. Wait, no you didn't.

What's Playing is rumoring that Universal's decided to have another go at id Software's Doom franchise. If you'll remember, the original film starred Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and terribleness.

Apparently, however, its DVD sales weren't half-bad (maybe they sold it in the comedy section), so here we are. At the moment, Universal's hoping to scare up a script for a complete franchise reboot. In other words, that first movie? Never happened.

Unsurprisingly, 3D's one of the buzzwords swarming around the project, which seems to be pretty much a given with big-budget action flicks these days.

We'll touch bases with Bethesda to see if this is true. And we'll also touch bases with our deities of choice to pray that it's not.
