Rock Band World social app arrives on Facebook

Rock Band World, a new full-featured companion application for Rock Band 3 and Rock Band Blitz, has been announced by Harmonix.

The social app is now available on Facebook, and allows players to "collaborate and compete" with other Rock Band aficionados by teaming up with friends, challenging said friends to Score Wars, or going it alone.

“When designing Rock Band World we wanted to extend the player experience beyond the console in exciting new and social ways,” said Project Director Matthew Nordhaus. “By letting Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 players link both Rock Band Blitz and Rock Band 3 to their large, already established social network, we’re opening up some great opportunities for competitive and collaborative gameplay.

"We can’t wait to start engaging the community with weekly Goals, and we look forward to seeing how fierce competition can get with Rock Band Blitz Score Wars.”

Players will be able to browse over 3800 songs in the Rock Band catalog, get detailed statistics on their own in-game performance, and more.

Rock Band Blitz’s songs are immediately compatible with and playable in Rock Band 3 and the game will be available through PSN and XBL on August 28.
