River City Ransom 2 in development for PC, crowd-funding goes live this summer

River City Ransom 2 may finally be released after all, according to indie studio Combit.

According to post on Combit Studio's blog, when Miracle Kidz announced in 2012 it had suspended the WiiWare title "indefinitely". Combit got to work.

"We have development on an official, worldwide follow-up to River City Ransom," reads the post. "With strong followings in North America and Japan, we will work closely with Million (River City Ransom EX) to ensure it is the best game it can be for fans on both continents.

"We are certainly not the only ones with an abiding love for River City Ransom, and we’ve assembled an amazing team of some of the most ardent fans of the game, each bringing their unique talents and imagination to what we hope will be the follow-up game you’ve always wanted to play."

The game is currently slated for an August 2014 release on PC with "additional platforms under consideration," and the team plans to start crowd-funding for it this summer.

Awesome news for fans of the series.
